About Us
MJ Housing & Services specializes in enhancing the lives of seniors and families living in affordable housing communities across the United States. We provide quality service coordination and educational programming focused on empowering our senior and disabled residents to live independently and our families to be economically self-sufficient.
Currently, MJ Housing & Services serves over 10,000 residents at 80 affordable housing communities. Each apartment complex offers free, comprehensive services to all interested residents on-site. Culturally sensitive services are provided to all of our residents, including the most needy low income populations.
MJ Housing provides full service employment, training, supervision, grant administration and 3rd party Quality Assurance on a national level.

Leadership
Madelyne J. Pfeiffer, M.S.W, C.F.R.E
Madelyne J. Pfeiffer is Founder and CEO of MJ Housing & Services, Inc., a company specializing in aging services, service coordination, coordinated care, quality assurance, and fund Raising focused on low income seniors and disabled individuals. She is an accomplished leader with a strong background in developing innovative team models and developing mutually beneficial partnerships.
Ms. Pfeiffer has a history of success generating funds through grants and bank community reinvestment funds to subsidize innovative programs for seniors and disabled adults living in affordable housing communities across the United States.
Ms. Pfeiffer has a BA from Claremont McKenna College in psychology and fine arts and a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from USC, and a Certificate in Fundraising (CFRE) from Indiana University.
Ms. Pfeiffer is currently an AASC faculty and travels nationally providing consulting and training to developers, property management companies, service providers and health care companies.

Charles (Charlie) A. Brown IV.
President
A new resident to sunny Palm Springs, Charles relocated here by way of Austin, Texas. Prior to coming to MJ Housing and Services, he served as the Operations Administrator / Manager for Children’s Legal Services of San Diego, a nonprofit that provides legal advocacy to children in the foster care system.

He also has served as the Executive Director of Business Services for the Manor Independent School District which services 13 campuses from K-12. Prior, he was an accountant for Greenblum Investment Partners and Law Firm. Before relocating to Austin, Texas he served as an Accountant for the Chaffey Joint Union High School District office in Ontario, California.

He currently serves as an adjudicator for Texas Color Guard Circuit, Winter Guard Association of Southern California, West Coast Winter Guard Circuit, US Bands , YEA – Youth Education in the Arts and is an invited guest to many other circuits across the country. He has also judged for Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International. He is an invited speaker and clinician to many organizations around the country.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus and is the past board president for the Arcos Dance Company. He was also the past president for the Texas Association for School Business Officials.
Dee Amundson, PSC
Director of People & Culture
Passionate about enhancing the lives of individuals in low-income and affordable housing communities, Dee is a dedicated professional with a Social Services career spanning nearly 15 years. Initially working in mental health and Veteran's nursing homes, she transitioned to become a Resident Service Coordinator at two low-income properties in Colorado. With a Professional Service Coordinator certification obtained in 2012, Dee has been committed to improving residents' overall well-being and fostering community development.
Throughout her 12-year tenure as a Resident Service Coordinator, Dee excelled in presenting at nationwide conferences, earning recognition for her insights and practical strategies to address the unique challenges faced by low-income and affordable housing communities. Her expertise and comprehensive understanding of housing issues make her a sought-after speaker and valued resource in the field.
Currently serving as the Director of People & Culture, Dee has continued to leverage her experience and knowledge to drive positive change. She previously served as the President of the American Association of Service Coordinators Colorado Chapter for five years, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing the profession. By combining her passion for housing advocacy, resident services, and leadership, Dee remains dedicated to making a lasting impact in the lives of individuals in need.

Ara Vanderhoof
As the Director of Administration, Ara is responsible for generating positive revenue growth, maintaining program and administrative compliance, and harmonizing operations.
Through Ara’s organizational skills, strategic planning, and thoughtful relationship management, she has developed a highly successful, diversified social service program that serves over 7,000 residents at more than 26 properties in California. Her background in affordable housing development, human resources, and social service program development makes her uniquely qualified to take on this role and contribute to the Executive Team and continued growth of MJ Housing & Services.
Ara holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of San Diego.
Ara is a native Californian that has a passion for traveling and experiencing new cultures. She is currently raising two beautiful kids in wine county, Temecula, California. In addition to traveling, she and her family love to spend their free time paddle boarding, biking, and hiking.
Maria Vanderhoof
Senior Operations Manager
Maria provides day-to-day management and support of several key organizational functions such as: Human Resources, accounts payable/ accounts receivable, recruiting, and general support services for Residents Services Coordinators. Maria provides strategic advice and recommendations to Senior leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of operating policies, practices, and procedures, community relations, as well as, internal employee and vendor relations. Additionally, Maria is responsible for developing standards and promoting activities that enhance operational procedures, company efficiency, and employee engagement.
Previously Maria worked in the medical field for over 14 years providing both front office and back office support to doctors, administrators, and patients. Maria served as a mentor to Office Managers in a large health care system and trainer for all new employees. As a result, she provides unique insight to the Resident Services Coordinators and Executive team into support service needs for older adults and families in the affordable communities we serve.
Gloria Pacas
Director of Quality Assurance
Gloria Pacas is a California native who graduated from the University of California - Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior and a B.A. in Spanish. Gloria spent a year studying abroad in Spain which led to her completing a B.A. in Spanish. She can speak Korean along with Spanish.
She had been a Resident Service Coordinator at an independent senior apartment in Long Beach, CA for eight years. While being a part of the MJ team, she has taken on different roles within the company as an Onboarding Specialist and a Lead Resident Service Coordinator while continuing to provide services and care coordination to seniors 62+.
Gloria continues to grow within MJ Housing and Services by providing support to the Service Coordinators in California on the MJ team and Quality Assurance team as Regional Director of Social Services and now as Director of Quality Assurance to all Service Coordinators on the MJ team. She is driven to provide the ultimate support to the team so that they can provide the best quality of life to the seniors they are serving while maintaining compliance with HUD.
Gary Jacobs
Videographer
Gary Jacobs of DBS Ent. Productions produced his first video in 2008. Since then he has worked on well over 600 videos in various capacities for large companies like Samsung, HP, and FICO, as well as smaller local businesses around southern California.
Gary’s work has appeared on CNBC, Fox5 San Diego, KUSI, KGTV, and an episode of Mike Rowe’s Returning the Favor. He has also had the privilege of working with three Emmy Award winners.
Gary’s favorite project of his career was as a cameraman, drone pilot, editor, and a post-producer for Newport Beach Film Festival Honors 2022. The show aired nationally on PBS in March 2022, and won a Silver Telly Award in General TV - Live Events. Interviews include Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Simon Rex, Jeffrey Wright, Rosanna Arquette, Regina Hall, and more.
Gary also loves to film passion projects such as a fundraising video for the Mt. Baldy Fire Department, a series of videos for a San Diego food pantry called It's All About The Kids Foundation, which has served over 3 Million meals to needy people since 2017, and for MJ Housing and Services which provides social services for low income senior living facilities around the US.
